Clarkson University, Union Graduate College Discussing Merger

Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY and and Union Graduate College in Schnectady, NY are considering a merger. The campuses are separated by about 180 miles. Leadership of the institutions tout the strong financial footing of both organizations, and are focusing on the synergies and opportunities for growth of the combined university.

Tennessee Temple University to Merge with Piedmont International University

Tennessee Temple University will merge with Piedmont International University in North Carolina. Both institutions were established in the mid-1940s and had similar founding visions as the institutions' founders were close friends.

Proposed Merger of the University of New Orleans and Southern University at New Orleans Back on Table

A proposed merger that has been discussed and tabled is now being revisited. Financial woes may be prompting consideration again of a merger between the University of New Orleans and Southern University at New Orleans. The plan would combine New Orleans' two public, four-year universities into one institution. The conversation draws deep emotions, as SUNO is the city's only public historically black university. Public sentiment seems to be generally positive this time around, with many recognizing the extreme financial pressures on the state higher education system.

University of Iowa Merging With AIB College of Business

The University of Iowa is merging with the AIB College of Business in Des Moines. AIB is a non-profit institution, and UI is assuming ownership of AIB facilities without any financial exchange. AIB students will eventually become UI students.

Mid-South Community College Merging with Arkansas State University

Mid-South Community College in West Memphis, AR is merging with Arkansas State University. The merger adds to the Arkansas State University System, with its flagship campus in Jonesboro and additional campuses in Beebe, Heber Springs, Searcy, Newport, Jonesboro, Marked Tree, Mountain Home, Paragould and the Little Rock Air Force Base.

University Mergers in Georgia

A merger has been approved between Georgia State University and Georgia Perimeter College. The enrollment of the combined institution will make it the largest in the state, surpassing the University of Georgia. The campuses of the institutions are located throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Additionally, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents finalized the consolidation of Kennesaw State University and Southern Polytechnic State University.
